Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the start of electronic registration and early transfer in government schools for the next academic year 2022-23 will begin on Sunday, April 24, and run until Thursday, June 9, 2022, through the Ministry’s public services portal.
Director of Schools Affairs —Education Affairs Sector— Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Ali Jassim Al Kuwari, said that over 129,248 students enrolled in government schools for the current year 2021-2022.
During the current academic year 14,766 students were enrolled in public schools, 2.63% increase over the previous year including 5,833 students who switched from private to public schools.
The Department of Schools Affairs has issued a circular to all public schools and kindergartens, stating that registration will begin next week and that early registration will be electronic, with the guardian receiving an SMS indicating that the early registration process for the student has been completed.
The early registration process has two phases; The first will open for Qataris, Qatari women’s children and citizens of GCC countries from April 24 to June 9, 2022, while the second phase will be available for all nationalities from May 15 to May 26, 2022.
The Cabinet’s decision during its regular meeting (19) for the year 2013, held on May 15, 2013, limited the acceptance of new students in government schools certain categories including Qatari children, children of Qatari women and children of the citizens of other GCC countries, children of non-Qatari nationals who work in government ministries, government agencies, authorities and public institutions and children of non-Qatari people working in private charitable associations and institutions.
Regarding early electronic registration/transfer to students at government schools for the new academic year 2022/23, the guardian enters the public services portal on the website of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education via the link (https://eduservices.edu.gov.qa) and choose the required service (according to the time allocated for each category and for each service).
To register a new student or a transferred student from a private school, the guardian must click on the “electronic registration in public schools” icon and follow the instructions.
To transfer a student from a government school to another government school, the guardian must click on the “electronic transfer in public schools” icon and follow the instructions.
To submit a request for registering students having (Qatari document holders’ children / registration of a sibling student / identification of an electricity number) click on the icon additional services for registering and transferring students in government schools” and follow the instructions. The school reviews the application and takes the appropriate action (Approval / Rejection) with the reason for rejection.
The Schools Affairs Department will receive requests and provides the necessary support to parents and schools, while applying the policies regulating the registration process. New student registration in schools at all levels of education, according to the school’s geographic scope and the number of vacancies.
