Qatar Meteorology warns of strong winds and high seas for weekend

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has issued a weather advisory for February 6-8, 2025, warning residents of challenging weather patterns ahead. 

The three-day weekend forecast indicates persistent strong wind and high seas along the coast, with temperatures showing moderate variations. 

Thursday kicks off with southeasterly to southerly winds reaching 12 to 22 knots, possibly gusting up to 26 knots. 

Residents should expect slight dusk to blowing dust conditions, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and a cold night.  

The day will see highs of 25 Degrees Celsius possibly dropping to 18 Degrees Celsius at night, with wave heights ranging from 3 to 7 feet and potentially reaching 11 feet. 

Friday’s forecast shows a slight uptick in temperatures, with a potential high of 26 Degrees Celsius and a low of 19 Degrees Celsius. 

Northwesterly winds of 10 to 20 knots with a possibility of reaching up to 28 knots are to be expected throughout the day. 

Slight dust to blowing dust persists with a chance of scattered light rain. The seas remain rough and high with waves reaching up to 10 feet. 

The weekend concludes on Saturday with moderate daytime temperatures of 23 Degrees Celsius, going down to 16 Degrees Celsius at night. 

Offshore conditions will be noticeably higher with northwesterly winds with speeds ranging from 7 up to 17 knots, and possibly reaching 24 knots. 

Wave heights are predicted to reach 3 to 5 feet potentially rising to 8 feet. 

Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution in their journeys, particularly for maritime activities, and to stay updated with the latest weather information and updates.
