Qatar University Young Scientists Centre (QU-YSC) will hold the Summer Research Internship Program 2022 from May 22 to June 23. The programme is organised this year, with the primary objective of bolstering research competencies in graduate and undergraduate students of all the QU colleges.
After being held online in the last two years, students can now attend the on-campus internship programme according to the guidelines set forward by the Ministry of Public Health. The students’ registration will begin on April 27 and will close on May 12. Interested students across QU colleges can visit the internship page at Qatar University Young Scientists Centre’s website, https://www.qu.edu.qa/research/ysc/internship/internship-2022
The programme will also witness the launch of an outcomes-directed intensive research programme. This programme will also focus on the introduction of a novel approach to integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based on multi-disciplinary research from all the centres and colleges. It will cover a broad range of courses and topics offered by ten research centres and different colleges at QU.
To broaden the mission of expanding the outreach efforts by the university, the programme will be open to all university students.
Vice-President for Research & Graduate Studies, Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed said, “Qatar is keenly looking forward to the accomplishments of the young generation, capable of transforming our economy and enriching our society. Besides, as we believe that QU has an important role to play in empowering them to reach the highest in their potential, we forge innovative approaches to maximise the student learning outcomes for a distinguished generation.”
QU-YSC Director, Prof. Noora Jabor Al Thani expressed the importance of the programme, saying, “This internship programme subjects students to real-world research projects, equipping them with strategic tools required to oblige the national development needs of Qatar. The innovative outcome-directed approach adopted in this year’s programme combines specialised knowledge with dynamic and cross-sectional capabilities thereby empowering the QU youth at par with the international institutions.”
