Education Ministry announces schools to represent Qatar in global contests

Doha: Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Scientific Research Section of the Curriculum and Learning Resources Department, in cooperation with Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) at Qatar Foundation announced a list of schools nominated to represent Qatar in regional and international competitions in scientific research and innovation, in the US, Malaysia and Kuwait.

The ministry said in a statement that most of the schools nominated for these competitions were selected from among the winners of the first three places in the National Scientific Research and Innovation Competition that was held from February 1 to 4, 2021, in nine categories that included all scientific and social fields.

It pointed out that the number of students who took the exams was 52 male and female students from 22 preceptory and secondary schools. They submitted 26 research projects, of which the best six were selected for 12 male and female students to participate in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in US on May 4 and 5, 2022.

The Ministry noted that seven projects were also selected for 14 students to represent Qatar at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Malaysia on May 26 and 27, 2022, as well as two projects for four female students from two girls schools, one of them is preparatory and the other is secondary, for Sheikha Fadia Al Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah’s scientific competition (FSSG) in Kuwait during June, 2022.

The Ministry provided, in a related context, a detailed explanation and definition of all the mentioned competitions, in terms of its scientific, social, innovative and technological research goals and interests, its organisers, as well as the previous Qatari participations, and the places and prizes won by Qatari students.
