GCC Secretary General welcomes formation of new Lebanese government

Riyadh: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, welcomed the formation of the new Lebanese government, hoping that its establishment will support stability and development in Lebanon and meet the aspirations of the Lebanese people for a more prosperous and secure future, in a way that enhances Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and independence, as well as restores its historical role in the Arab world.

In a statement issued Saturday, Albudaiwi praised this important step, which reflects the will of the Lebanese leadership and political forces to overcome challenges and enhance stability and security in Lebanon, in addition to underscoring the importance of strengthening national and international efforts to support Lebanon in this sensitive stage in order to restore its economy, development, and security.

The GCC Secretary General reiterated the Council's firm and supportive stance towards Lebanon and its people, and the readiness of GCC states to continue to stand by Lebanon in everything that would achieve security, stability, and prosperity for the country, wishing the new Lebanese government success in performing its duties, serving the interests of Lebanon and its people, as well as bolstering its established relations with GCC member states.
