Doha, Qatar: In a remarkable sporting atmosphere befitting the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, the Round of 16 matches of the “Teams” Embassy Football Championship will conclude today (Thursday), at Aspire Zone, amidst an enthusiastic crowd.
The evening will feature four crucial matches, where the Spanish Embassy team will face the Chadian Embassy team, while another match will see a fierce competition between the Eritrean Embassy team and the Ethiopian Embassy team. Additionally, the Kenyan Embassy team will play against the Indian Embassy team.
The “Teams” Embassy Football Championship is one of the key events organised as part of the Ramadan Sports Festival, featuring participation from 24 embassies, divided into eight groups, each representing different countries from around the world.
The tournament has delivered thrilling matches, delighting spectators, while maintaining a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation among the participating embassies.
The quarter-final matches are set to take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, followed by the semi-finals on the next day. The championship will conclude with the grand final at 9:00pm on Monday, March 17, 2025, where the winning team of this special edition will be crowned.
As part of the other competitions hosted by Aspire Zone during the Ramadan Sports Festival, the Men’s Tennis Championship has also been held at the women’s sports hall tennis courts.
The tournament has seen Alexey Smirnov and Ahmed Al Shami advancing to the final match. Smirnov reached the final after Rawad Ajeeb withdrew in the semi-finals, while Al Shami secured his place with a dominant 9-1 victory over Mykhailo Roshkovskiy. Meanwhile, Roshkovskiy managed to secure third place after a highly competitive journey throughout the tournament.
In the Women’s Tennis Championship, the semi-finalists Sarah Ben Aziza, Hanna Albovich, Zoreida Motola, and Gaya Haddad have reached the final 4 stages.
The championship is set to conclude on Thursday, March 13, 2025, where these talented players will compete for the title in an exciting Ramadan atmosphere.
The 11th edition of the “Ramadan Sports Festival 2025” kicked off on March 3, 2025, continuing the tradition of offering an annual platform that blends competitive sports with the spirit of the holy month.
The festival runs until March 18, 2025, and includes a wide range of sports activities such as football, basketball, tennis, squash, and other events catering to various age groups, including men, women, and people with special needs.
