Doha, Qatar: Garangao, an annual occasion that takes place during the halfway mark of the holy month of Ramadan, is a long-held Qatari tradition that always carries sweet childhood memories.
Children are adorned in traditional garbs and go on visiting houses, singing the “Garangao Garangao” song and receiving sugary treats and nuts. The celebrations are done as a treat for children for having fasted half of the holy month.
This year, Garangao will be celebrated across multiple venues all over Qatar. Here is a list of places that families can observe the jubilant atmosphere at:
Garangao at Lusail Boulevard
Venue: Lusail Boulevard
Date: March 14, 2025
Time: 8pm – 1am
In addition to the Garangao festivities at Lusail Boulevard, the venue promises visitors a myriad of other activations including a Ramadan souq, handicrafts and traditional products, family activities, as well as gastronomic delights.
Darb el Saai’s “Al Razji”
Venue: Darb el Saai, Umm Salal
Date: March 14, 2025
Time: 7:30pm – midnight
Garangao at Dar el Saai has been included in the “Al Razji” cultural event, held in efforts to preserve the deeply rooted Qatari mores, promote the national identity, and cope with the atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan. Read more here.
