Chance of scattered rain, strong wind expected this weekend: QMD

DOHA: A chance of scattered rain maybe thundery at some places associated with strong wind and high sea offshore is expected this weekend, the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) said in its weather forecast. 

Friday (December 23) 

The QMD said that strong wind and high sea are expected tomorrow at late night offshore. The weather condition will be hazy at first and will become mild daytime. 

The temperature will range between 19°C and 25°C, with some parts of the country being partly cloudy with a chance of rain North offshore.

During this period, the wind will blow mainly southeasterly at 5-15 KT, gusting to 20 KT, and reaching 26 KT by late night offshore.

Sea state at late night inshore will be 2 to 4 feet and reaches 8 feet offshore.

Saturday (December 24)

The country can expect thundery rain associated with strong wind and high sea offshore on Saturday.

Mild weather in the daytime is forecasted, then it will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of rain at places inshore, and maybe thundery offshore.

Saturday’s temperature will range between 18°C and 27°C. 

The wind will blow southeasterly at 5-15 KT gusting to 22 KT at times inshore. Offshore it will be 15-20 KT gusting 28 KT, and shifting to Northwesterly later 

Sea state will be at 2-4 feet, rising to 5 feet inshore. Offshore could reach 9 feet at times.

No further warning was issued by the Department.
