Scattered rain in parts of Qatar; Meteorology warns of wind and poor visibility on weekend

Doha: Scattered rain is reported in western parts of the country today, according to Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD), as it shared a photo on social media.  

This weather condition is forecasted to continue during this weekend, wherein thundery rain could be observed at some places in the afternoon along with strong wind. Poor visibility is expected at first inshore and offshore on Friday. 

Meanwhile, temperatures will range from 29 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius during the weekend. 

On Friday, the wind will blow mainly in Southeasterly to northeasterly direction at 3 to 13 KT gusting to 50 KT with thundery rain inshore. For offshore, the wind is forecasted to blow mainly in northeasterly direction at 3-10 KT at first, shifting to Southwesterly to northwesterly at 5-15 KT offshore.

Sea heights will also reach 1-3 ft inshore and 4 ft offshore. 

QMD issued a poor visibility warning for Friday, September 23, 2022, which is expected to range from 1 kilometre or less at some places at first, then becoming 3 to 7 kilometres. While on Saturday, September 24, 2022, the visibility will range in 5-8km.
