Doha: Qatar University (QU) Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mariam Ali Al Maadeed recently joined the two-day virtual event organised by Nature Conferences wherein she was a keynote speaker in the plenary session on “Excellence in Research without Borders.”
According to tweets from QU Research and Graduate Studies, Mariam discussed several points that included the progress of research in Qatar as well as her experience in research and science without limitations.
Moreover, she talked about the availability of wide-open opportunities to further advance in scientific fields, along with unremitting efforts and advancing in various domains without gender discrimination.
Also, the QU Vice-President discussed about the history of science development in the Arab world, and the role of females in this development.
The virtual conference for this year was themed “Breaking Barriers for Gender Equity Through Research” in line with the celebration of International Women’s Day. It highlighted some of the amazing women working in academia, industry and policy-making.

The conference held on March 9 and 10 brought together women and allies in various stages of their careers and provided them opportunities to network and develop mentoring relationships.
