Meteorology Department warns of thundery rain, strong wind in Qatar

Doha: Weather inshore tonight until 6pm on Friday will be misty at places at first, partly cloudy to cloudy with rain maybe thundery at times and cold by night, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.

It also issued a warning of expected thundery rain associated with strong wind and poor visibility at times.

Offshore, it will be partly cloudy to cloudy with thundery rain, the report added, warning of expected thundery rain associated with strong wind and high sea.

Wind inshore will be northwesterly 08 - 18 KT reaches 28 KT at places with thundery rain at times.

Offshore, it will be northwesterly 10 - 20 KT reaches 25 KT with thunder rain.

Visibility will be 04 to 08/3 kilometer or less at places with thundery rain.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 FT rises to 5 FT with thunder rain. Offshore, it will be 3 to 6 rises to 8 FT with thunder rain.

Most parts of the country continue to receive rain, thundery at times, according to its weather updates on social media. 

On Wednesday, the Department forecasted that cloudy weather and chances for moderate to heavy rain will continue until Saturday, January 7, 2023. It stated that this is "due to the deepening of the low pressure over the Arabian Peninsula."

During this period, maximum temperature will range between 19-23 degrees Celsius while minimum will vary between 15-17 degrees Celsius.
