Slovenia President affirms keenness to develop relations with Qatar

President  of  the  Republic  of  Slovenia  H  E  Borut  Pahor  affirmed his country’s keenness to  develop  and  strengthen  cooperation  relations  with    Qatar in various fields.In an interview with Qatar News  Agency  (QNA)  on  the  occasion of his official visit to the country, H E President said that Qatar   enjoys   an   important   position at the regional and inter-national levels, adding that it is important to strengthen relations with it and develop cooperation to broader horizons.

The  Slovenian  President  described the talks he had with  Amir  H  H  Sheikh  Tamim  bin  Hamad Al Thani on Wednesday as very positive and wonderful, paving  the  way  for  further  strengthening of bilateral rela-tions, noting that Qatar is con-stantly  developing  and  has  a  great image globally as its status is progressing. He added that Qatar is witnessing a wonderful renaissance in all fields, thanks to the efforts of H H the Amir and the government.

His  Excellency  said  that    Qatar is currently the focus of the world’s attention with the approach  of  the  2022  FIFA  World   Cup,   stressing   the   success  of  his  current  visit,  which is his second since 2015. He pointed out that he had pre-viously met with H H the Amir on several occasions since that date, the most recent was at the United    Nations    General    Assembly in New York.

The President affirmed that Slovenia and Qatar agree on the importance   of   developing   bilateral relations, adding that their  views  are  identical  on  international  issues,  such  as  peaceful solutions to conflicts and disputes and adherence to constructive   tolerance.   He   pointed out that the prospects for  cooperation  between  the  two countries in the political and   economic   fields   are   promising.

He explained that several  ministers  accompa-nying him on the visit had dis-cussions with Qatari officials that touched on various areas of future cooperation.The  President  said  that  during the talks with H H the Amir,   he   affirmed   to   His   Highness his desire to establish stronger   relations   at   the   political level with the State of Qatar and also stronger rela-tions of cooperation at the eco-nomic level.

He expressed his happiness  that  H  H  the  Amir  accepted an official invitation to  visit  Slovenia  in  the  near  future as the visit will be a good opportunity   to   strengthen   bilateral relations

H E the Slovenian President added that there are many trade and economic fields in which the two countries can cooperate, especially since Slovenia is con-sidered one of the countries that attract investment and enjoy a sustainable, smart, and environ-mentally friendly economy, adding that Qatari investors can learn about these incentives by visiting it.

He noted that the State of Qatar is also an amazing country as it is witnessing con-tinuous development, adding that what he saw during his current visit confirms the comprehensive development in Qatar, which will contribute to opening large areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Also, H E the Slovenian Pres-ident stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen economic cooperation with Qatar, especially in the areas of high technology, sustainable development, green technology, tourism, and health, in addition to cooperation in the gas sector as well, expressing his gratitude for the readiness of the State of Qatar to support Slovenia in the field of gas.

Speaking about the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, H E the Pres-ident of Slovenia expressed his confidence that the State of Qatar will organize a wonderful edition of the World Cup during the coming months of November and December.

He said that it is amazing to watch the World Cup in Qatar, especially since the tour-nament is being held for the first time in the Middle East and also for the first time in a non-summer season.

In his interview with QNA, His Excellency expressed hope that the war in Ukraine would stop, and that peace would prevail throughout the world before the World Cup, stressing that his country hopes for a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis, which is a common vision between Slovenia and the State of Qatar.

HE President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor said that this war would change a lot, expressing hope that it will end as soon as possible and restore trust between the West and Russia, which must take pos-itive steps to restore it.

He underlined that everyone is considered a loser from war, especially the innocent, so all have to believe in peaceful solu-tions to all problems
