Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia H E Ridwan Hassan affirmed that his country and the State of Qatar enjoy deep and solid historical relations at various political, economic, cultural, social, defense and other levels.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar National Day, the Ambassador said that the two countries have established important relations for a long time, and possess valuable opportunities to enhance cooperation and partnership in a number of fields such as trade, tourism, investment and culture, as well as cultural and social fields.
He referred to the successful Qatari investments in Indonesia such as Qatar National Bank, Nebras Power and Ooredoo, stressing that there are valuable opportunities to enhance investments and increase trade exchange in the coming years. Regarding Socio-Culture areas including education, he said that Qatar has highly reputable and qualified educational institutions.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation between Qatar and Indonesia at all levels, especially on environmental issues, given the common vision on how to build and develop the world, and their aspiration for a more prosperous, just and sustainable world.
“The State of Qatar is an important partner for Indonesia, and Doha plays important roles in many multilateral forums. This is in line with Indonesia’s agenda to support and promote multilateral action in an effective and fair manner,” he said, stressing the need to protect the principle of multilateralism, through concrete action and tangible results.
He appreciated Qatar’s stand and support towards the COVAX mechanism in which Indonesia is a Co-Chair for the COVAX AMC Engagement Group.
On preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, he said: “I think there is no skepticism that Qatar would be an amazing host for the tournament. This country has built enormous infrastructure projects for the success of the 2022 World Cup. It has also engaged a lot of foreign communities to be part of the FIFA World Cup.”
