DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has issued a comprehensive circular to public school principals regarding student registration for the 2025-2026 academic year.

The circular outlines the dates for opening the student registration and transfer system, the admission age for new students in all grades from kindergarten through twelfth, and procedures for transferring students.

The automated transfer includes all students in the final grades of the school building: kindergarten, and fourth grade in the model schools for boys, sixth grade, and ninth grade. Schools are committed to implementing these procedures through the Maaref portal for public services, to ensure the necessary facilities are provided for students and their parents. Public schools are working to complete the automated transfer process through the National Student Information System (NSIS) within the specified timeframe. At the same time, the Ministry’s Student Admissions and Registration Department reviews and approves transfers per approved regulations, considering balanced student distribution and avoiding overcrowding. After transfer approval, schools print notifications and deliver them to parents according to the specified schedule.

New student registration and transfers between public schools are conducted electronically according to approved criteria, including admission categories, admission age, school geographic area, and vacancies.

Regarding the children of residents working in the private sector and residing in the outer regions and villages, the Ministry has identified the cities in which they are permitted to enrol in schools: Al Shamal City, Dukhan City, Al Karaana, Al Ghuwairiya, Al Zubarah, Al Kharsaah, Al Kaaban, Al Jumailiya, and Rawdat Rashid (girls only). These students will be registered through schools at the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year, according to the conditions outlined in the registration guide.

Students admitted to the kindergarten stage are from the targeted groups: Qataris, children of Qatari mothers, children of GCC citizens, and children of Qatari document holders. They must be born between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021. For the preparatory stage, students must be from the same categories mentioned above and born between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020.
