General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, stressed that the celebration of the National Day is an opportunity to renew our adherence to the Founders approach, under the wise leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that it is an occasion in which we express the values of solidarity and synergy. With every celebration of the National Day, we all renew the pledge to raise the banner of this nation, which is achieving accomplishments year after year at all levels until Qatar became a beacon of science, creativity and leadership, as well as important figure in successful diplomatic mediations and procedures that uphold human values.
He said that despite global conditions, Qatar is witnessing great growth and is achieving multiple political, economic and social successes and achievements at various levels, adding that they at Cultural Village Foundation work within this lofty vision and to make the Cultural Village a global beacon that shines on the region and the world, contributing to human advancement and building bridges of communication between cultures and peoples.
On the most important achievements of Katara in the year 2021, Dr. Al Sulaiti said that the achievements are many and varied, as they were able to return to most of the cultural activities in the Cultural Village in accordance with the health procedures followed to prevent COVID-19 and its variants, explaining that they worked on that in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.
Katara challenged this global health situation by organising the largest exhibitions such as the 5th edition of the Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition “Suhail”, in addition to organizing one of the most famous tournaments in the world, the Title Show Championship within the Katara International Festival for Arabian Horses, in cooperation with the Qatar Equestrian Federation, and Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and Qatar Foundation. This festival has recorded significant international participation, Al Sulaiti said.
Al Sulaiti added at the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, they remain in constant contact with their audience and listen to their suggestions; on this basis, the Art Talent Festival was launched, which presents the best 60 winning paintings in the project launched by Katara with the Ministry of Education.
He also noted the major sports tournaments hosted by Katara, such as the Katara International Chess Tournament, which was organised remotely in cooperation with the Qatar Chess Association. The Tournament recorded the participation of major international names in this ancient mental game. Furthermore, the 4-star Katara Beach Volleyball Cup (men and women) was organised in cooperation with the Qatar Volleyball Association, under the supervision of the International Volleyball Federation, with the participation of 100 teams representing 28 countries, he said.
