Cultural Village Foundation— Katara, and the Embassy of Syria opened the exhibition entitled “Qatar through Syrian lens” at Building 19, Hall , which will run until February 26.
The exhibits feature 40 photographs from 14 Syrian artists. The pictures include Katara amphitheatre, camels, dhow at Corniche, scenes from the Qatar National Day 2021, parks, Museum of Islamic Art, National Museum of Qatar, sand dunes, and various landmarks and historical places in the country.
The exhibit was opened by Katara Director of Human Resources Department, Saif Saad Saeed Al Dosari, along with some dignitaries.
In a message, Charge D’Affairs at the Embassy of Syria in Qatar, H E Dr. Bilal Turkiya said the exhibit showcases photographs about landmarks, nature and civilizations and modern buildings in Qatar taken by Syrian nationals. He also lauded Katara for hosting cultural activities by Syrians and other nationalities.
H E Dr. Turkiya also thanked Katara, the Qatar government and its people for the opportunity.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Qatar, H E Mustafa Goksu said the exhibition is a fantastic initiative in promoting non-Qatari artists. He also thanked Katara and the Syrian Embassy in Qatar for organising such presentation.
The photographer, Batoul, said: “I participated with my photographs focusing on camels and deserts of Qatar.” She likewise extended her appreciation to the foundation and organisers for providing the platform to showcase her art.
Interested individuals may visit the exhibit free of charge and is open from 10am to 10pm.
Meanwhile, an upcoming event is set to happen in Katara as well called “QatART Makers Market” to be held on February 25 at Katara Art Studios, also at Building 19. QatART is a community of Qatar-based handmade makers of art, craft and design, with a key principle that all products must be handmade and designed in the country. The event will be from 3pm to 8pm.
QatART was founded in 2011 and at present the community has over 60 members from 30 countries. Their handcrafts range from jewelry, bags, clothing, paintings, illustrations, graphic designs, greeting cards, stationery, craft kits and toys, home decors, furniture and accessories to homemade food and party supplies. These products are one-of-a-kind, handmade and not mass produced, oftentimes with the option of customisation for a truly unique experience.
