Mohammed Faleh Al Hajri, in charge of managing Civil Aviation Authority, stressed that the National Day is an occasion of great moral importance that carries many connotations and lofty meanings in the minds and hearts of citizens and residents of this land, adding that it is a special, symbolic day, in which the covenant and promise are renewed to consolidate the meanings of pride, belonging and loyalty to our beloved country Qatar.
On this great day, the Qatari people’s determination is renewed to make all possible efforts for the advancement of the country, move forward in the process of development and achieve further progress.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), on the occasion of the country’s celebrations of the National, he stressed that the celebration of this day constitutes an incentive to draw lessons and an expression of loyalty to the values established by the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, as well as an affirmation of the emulation of his wisdom and good management of the country and the need to move forward on the approach he drew to raise the name of Qatar high, based on the foundations he laid to build a strong and an independent nation, which become a pioneering model in all fields and a country that occupies the forefront of the list of the most developed countries in the world.
Al Hajri pointed out that the authority was able, during the year 2021, to accomplish a number of achievements, most notably winning the membership of the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in the elections that took place on the sidelines of the 26th regular session of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
He added that 2021 witnessed the inauguration of the Qatar Air Control Center, which is the latest and most advanced with all its technical devices and service facilities, pointing out that the Center will play an active and important role in the development and modernization of the aviation system in the State of Qatar.
He explained that in light of the work to strengthen the progress of the air transport sector, a comprehensive agreement on air transport with the European Union was signed in 2021, which will pave the way for a new phase of cooperation between Qatar and the countries of the Union. It will also allow the country’s national carrier “Qatar Airways” to easily enter European markets without restrictions, which will contribute to the expansion of its network in the countries of the European Union, he clarified. The terms of the air services agreement between Qatar and Uzbekistan have also been updated and signed, he said, adding that a memorandum of understanding to increase transportation rights between Qatar and Belarus was signed as well.
Mohammed Faleh Al Hajri stated that the year 2021 witnessed the signing of an air services agreement between Qatar and Central Africa, in addition to the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of air transport between the two sides, allowing the national carrier to operate any number of passenger and cargo flights with full rights of transportation. This brings the number of air transport agreements signed so far to 171, he added.
In the field of meteorology, he pointed out that the General Authority of Civil Aviation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Korea to complete the fruitful cooperation process between the two countries in this field, which began in 2013.
With regard to future plans, he indicated that the Department will continue to successfully implement its plans emanating from the Qatar Second National Development Strategy 2018- 2022, in line with the main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, in addition to its work on developing all civil aviation facilities in the country and supporting comprehensive development plans and programs in this sector, which will contribute to enhancing the operations of Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport.
He said that in preparation for Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup 2022, important developments are being prepared regarding the Qatari airspace, in addition to increasing aircraft lanes over the State of Qatar and modernizing devices and systems used in air navigation with the aim of accommodating the large air traffic expected during the country’s hosting of this tournament.
He pointed to the development of many meteorological centers in Qatar to ensure more modern and accurate services. He also pointed out that the Authority continues to develop clear policies in the field of environmental protection in coordination with its strategic partners in the field of civil aviation inside and outside the country, in order to serve the goals of sustainable development and in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 to ensure the development of a safe and sustainable civil aviation system.
