Doha: Sixteen special units are in place to protect the participating teams and VIPs during the FIFA Arab Cup, said Lieutenant Abdul Mohsen Al Ruwaili, Traffic unit officer.
Speaking to Qatar Radio today, he added that there is an integrated plan to facilitate traffic during the tournament.
“There is a unit specialized in securing movement and traffic, which is a unit affiliated to the Safety & Security Operations Committee, among 16 units working to make the tournament a success,” he said.
He explained that traffic and security plans included all the 6 stadiums and securing the 16 participating teams.
The plan includes securing the participants' transportation and accommodation, as well as securing the permits center in Al Dafna and the broadcasting center in Aspire and others.
