Doha: President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi hailed the operational excellence of Ashghal and the timely delivery of projects, which qualified it to obtain a number of international awards and certificates of excellence.
This came in the 25th edition of the authority’s magazine Our News, which sheds light on the most important infrastructure projects that have been completed and are being worked on in various regions of the country.
He pointed out that the authority announced the service of 2,112 vouchers for citizens’ plots in the northern regions and 3,000 vouchers within the road and infrastructure project for citizens’ plots in South Al Wukair and the implementation of many initiatives to overcome the challenges facing the implementation of projects and reduce the impact of construction on the lives of residents.
The Ashghal President noted that 653 electric chargers and hundreds of inverters have been installed as part of the Public Bus Infrastructure Program in line with Qatar’s strategy to shift to clean energy, to enhance cooperation between the authority with various state agencies by signing a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding.
The new edition of the magazine dealt with a number of achievements carried out by the authority, including the Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor project and the winning of a three-star award from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) as a distinguished authority and its preparations to obtain five-star excellence. The edition also reviewed the institutional strategy of Ashghal “2018/2022”, the most important updates and improvements in quality, customer service, service requests, and communication channels that it has carried out and implemented.
The 25th edition also touched on the efforts of the Supervisory Committee of the Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the State and its role in creating an urban and healthy environment, as well as infrastructure projects through which the authority saved 23 percent of the costs of operation and maintenance of sewage in 2020. It also highlighted the most important building projects, including the establishment of the largest electric charging station in the region to serve the new electric buses according to the plan of the Ministry of Transport and the completion of a number of health centers, as well as institutional initiatives, including building information modeling and phone applications to monitor projects, launching Ashghal’s recycling guide and its efforts to support small Qatari contractors.
The magazine reviewed the efforts of the authority in developing its cadres through training courses and workshops, its participation in conferences, forums, exhibitions, and exchange of visits with many local, regional and international institutions.
It is noteworthy that all the magazine’s topics are translated into English, especially as it is distributed to various government agencies and companies operating in the country, especially in the areas of infrastructure.
