Doha: The pavilion of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education at 31st Doha International Book Fair has attracted a large number of visitors.
The growing turnout is due to innovations at the pavilion that caught the attention of visitors and took them on a small-journey of education in the country from past to present through a mini-museum.
CEO of Rosa Publishing House, Aisha Al Kuwari, said the education in Qatar has gone through many stages, and new generations should learn about the development and progress that Qatar has been able to reach through the efforts it made to advance education standard.
Al Kuwari urged parents to visit the pavilion accompanying their children to learn about the history of education in Qatar and to learn about historical figures who contributed to the renaissance and growth of education in the country. She described attending the Education Pavilion as visiting a mini-museum at the book fair.
Al Kuwari said that the Department of Learning Resources at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education played a major role in reviewing and developing school curricula, through their continuous communication with Qatari publishing houses to review new publications, and thus providing schools with these new resources at all levels of school.
On the other hand, Hisham Badr Al Din, a specialist in learning resources at Curricula Department, said the pavilion is divided in two parts, a section to display old curricula and photos, and another section to display the current advanced education. Badr Al Din explained the activities at the pavilion of the Ministry which features pictures, old textbooks, and models of old and modern classrooms.
One of the volunteers at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education pavilion, Khadija Karam, a specialist at Al Wukair Model School for Boys, described the volunteering experience as a “unique experience”, through which she was able to acquire many skills and learn new information in the field of education.
