Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has carried out various inspection campaigns to ensure consumer protection and combat fraudulent activities.
In a tweet shared by the Ministry, it released statistics on commercial and trade registration and licenses in addition to a number of inspection campaigns for quality license and market control across consumer affairs, trade, and industry sectors.
In the consumer affairs sector, the ministry revealed that 38,089 inspection campaigns were carried out during the first half of the year to verify the validity of the promotions and to follow up on complaints and market control.
The ministry also highlighted that 8,781 advertising licenses were issued for sales and promotions and the registrations of 474 Qatari families were reported on the government rations system in consumer affairs.
During the first six months of the year, 204 industrial licenses were renewed. The ministry also reported that there were 159 customs exemption requests for factories and 287 requests were received to increase capacity and modify production data factories, respectively.
However, the ministry carried out 1952 inspection campaigns during the first half of the year to ensure the safety of the consumers in Qatar.
The ministry noted that 7,842 issuances of commercial registration were reported, and 67,541 individuals requested renewal of commercial registration during H1 2023.
Apart from that, the sector also saw the issuance of 17,632 commercial licenses, and 17,800 individuals requested to add and edit commercial activities in the same period.
MoCI also remarked that 63,093 inspection campaigns took place from January until June 2023 to make sure the consumer rights are well in-place by validating commercial registrations and licenses.
The ministry added that 6,081 requests were received stressing the need of adding a new branch in the country.
