Doha: The 44th World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM) began on Thursday, and continue until November 29 with 438 participants from 40 countries.
The opening ceremony was held on Thursday in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and President of Qatar Olympic Committee H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani.
The opening ceremony was also attended by ranking officers from the Qatari Armed Forces, and heads of the delegations participating in the competition. The opening ceremony was then followed by an air show by the Amiri Air Forces and planes from Al Zaeem Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air College.
CISM Secretary General, Colonel Mamby Koita, praised the organisation of the competition, and thanked in particular the organising committee for its efforts to ensure the competition looked its best. He said that he sensed the good organisation as soon as he arrived at Hamad International Airport, saying Qatar deserves a gold medal in organising the competition.
Lieutenant Mansour Omar Al Karbi, ember of the supreme organising committee, said he was pleased with how strong the competition is, saying it was successful since its launch.
