Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) revealed that 150,000 fasting individuals have incredibly benefited from Iftar tables organized at the Thursday and Friday Souq, Al Wakrah, Al Khor, and Al Sailiya, with four tables for each.
In a statement on Monday, Awqaf highlighted that these tables are served as part of the Iftar project for fasting individuals it organizes with the intent of helping those in need, pointing out that such a project this year draws approximately 300,000 fasting individuals, distributed to a variety of regions statewide, in pursuit of promoting the precepts of social interdependence and mercy among the community members.
Chairman of the Iftar committee at Awqaf, Muhammad Yaqoub Al Ali, said the project seeks nearness to Allah, the Almighty, through this charitable work, revives the Prophetic Sunnah in feeding fasting individuals, offers the chance for benefactors to earn virtuous deeds, helps those in need perform the prescribed fasting pillar, and operationalizes endowments and contributions of benefactors through secure channels.
Iftar tables incredibly provide the opportunity for individuals to get familiarized with educational contents that are profoundly beneficial for the Qatari community, in addition to forging effective partnerships with official entities in the State of Qatar to serve the community, as well as reinvigorating the domestic economy, Al Ali said.
He highlighted that the project offers the highest quality of integrated meals, which are prepared in comfortable, air-conditioned places to ensure a serene and joyful experience, emphasizing that Iftar tents are organized through a specialized committee, from which task forces are formed, with some responsible for managing and organizing the site, while others are dedicated to meal preparation and catering services.
Al Ali stated that Awqaf collaborates with relevant public agencies such as the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Interior to ensure success, affirming that the project has been receiving contributions from benefactors, stemming from the Sharia evidence that confirms serving Iftar meals to achieve nearness to Allah, the Almighty, and ultimately earn the intended charitable deeds during this holy month.
