New York: Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations H E Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani met with H E Helga Schmid, candidate for the position of President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and former Executive Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission in New York.
During the meeting, the pivotal role of the UN in promoting the principles of multilateralism was emphasized, in addition to discussing ways to enhance international cooperation.
She affirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at enhancing dialogue, cooperation and sustainable development, and stressed the importance of joint action to confront global challenges and enhance international security and stability.
