A beautifully-made fan song for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 titled “Hayya Ma’ana – Let The Game Win” was launched recently. Hayya Ma’ana in Arabic means ‘come, join us’.
The song both in English and Arabic languages has a fine touch of Western and Indian music flavours which invites everyone to join the fun. The phrase “let the game win” on the title and lyrics of the song has a deeper meaning.
Speaking to The Peninsula, English lyricist of the song, Prasanth Mathew said: “We wanted the game to win, because I know there’s so much politics behind about hate, about Qatar, and we wanted to show the message to let the game win. We are inviting everybody to join the fun [because] there’s so much hard work behind it (World Cup).
“The game should win and all of us — whether you win or lose, must keep the spirit. We are happily welcoming the whole world to Qatar.”
He emphasised that football, which is the central theme of the song unites people, regardless of nationality. The song was conceptaualised during the Arab Cup last year and has been developed overtime.
The Arabic lyrics were penned by Qatar’s renowned poet Khalifa Jamaan Al Suwaidi, and is sung by Nadir Abdul Salam. The English lyrics were made by Prasanth Mathew, who is a composer and has also written songs in his language Malayalam. The mixing and mastering was done by sound engineer Rejith Viswanathan.
Lead singer of the song is Allen George Varghese, a Qatar-based musician and a professional audio engineer. He is also associated with the local band Kanal Qatar.
The song has won praise by netizens. The official video was uploaded on Thursday. “Well done team!! Love it!!” said a Youtube user. Other commentators termed the song ‘beautiful and powerful’.
The song was launched under Saina Music YouTube channel.
