QFFD signs two agreements with ICRC, Qatar University

Doha: Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed a cooperation agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support the Committee's economic security program "ECOSEC" in Libya, with the aim of responding to the emergency needs of those affected by the Libyan crisis, on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.

QFFD Director General Khalifa bin Jassem Al Kuwari said that through cooperation with the ICRC, QFFD will be able to respond urgently and meet the needs of those affected by the Libyan crisis. His Excellency indicated that the joint program will contribute to supporting the peace process by securing basic needs, enhancing people's resilience and ensuring self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.

For her part, HE ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, expressed her happiness with the QFFD's support for projects aimed at helping families affected by the conflict in Libya in order to secure their basic needs.

QFFD also signed a cooperation agreement with the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University (QU), with the aim of enhancing the quality of education in business schools in a number of African countries.

Al Kuwari said that QFFD is pleased to support the growth of education to provide students with the knowledge and capabilities that will enable them to fully participate in society in the future.

The President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan Al Derham stressed that the support and development of business administration schools in developing countries comes within the framework of the university's endeavor to maximize its international impact and support for the goals of sustainable development.
