Doha, Qatar: The fifth edition of the Flower Exhibition kicked off this morning, organized by the Souq Waqif administration in cooperation with the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality.
The 12-day event is being held in the western square of Souq Waqif.
Twenty-four farms and nurseries specializing in annual flowers, fruit trees, vegetable seedlings, plants, and ornamental trees are participating in the exhibition.
The exhibition space has been uniquely designed this year to include a flower garden and rose waterfalls, along with all necessary facilities and arrangements.
Mohammed Al-Salem, the general supervisor of the exhibition, said: "24 farms and nurseries selected by the Ministry of Municipality are participating in the fifth edition of the Flower Exhibition, displaying seedlings, ornamental plants, flowers, pesticides, and fertilizers."
He emphasized that the exhibition helps boost sales in the market by bringing local nurseries together under one roof at Souq Waqif, encouraging nurseries to sell especially during the current climate conditions suitable for cultivation.
He noted that the exhibition helps introduce the public to local entities working in the flower industry, including farms, nurseries, and companies.
The official further mentioned that this timing was chosen to coincide with the flower planting season, allowing visitors and enthusiasts to enjoy their time while touring the exhibition.
The exhibition is open to the public from 9am to 10pm in the western square of Souq Waqif, and on Fridays from 4pm to 10pm.
A large turnout of visitors of all categories and ages is expected.
The participating nurseries were selected based on various criteria, such as being large nurseries within local farms, having diverse products including seedlings, flowers, various agricultural materials, and maintaining a good reputation.
The Flower Exhibition is among various exhibitions supported by the Souq Waqif administration in cooperation with the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality to support the sale of local produce, provide marketing and sales opportunities, and introduce the public to local companies.
