Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) will be holding a four-day virtual conference entitled Qatar Health 2022 and 2nd Qatar Public Health in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and as a pandemic response in Qatar.
In a tweet, MoPH disclosed the event will take place from February 9 to 12, and Qatar will virtually host it on the last three days. The conference will provide state-of-the-art learning from local and international experts and will maintain, if not exceed, the standards of credibility and excellence built on the recent iterations of both conferences.
Moreover, it will give valuable educational opportunities for participants as well as healthcare providers and managers who will be preparing for the World Cup Qatar and the pandemic response in the country.
MoPH Public Health Department Director, Dr. Sheikh Mohamed Al Thani; MoPH Advisor Consultant and CIS-HMC Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. AbdulWahab Al Musleh; and HMC Vascular and Trauma Surgery Head, Dr. Hassan Ali Al Saoud Al Thani will lead the conference. They are all likewise the co-chair of the said forum.
In a statement from the three co-chair, they disclosed that the first day will hold pre-conference workshops, while the remaining three days are allotted for multiple full and half-day tracks.
Qatar Health 2022 sessions will display Qatar’s capabilities in the fields of mass gathering, management, disaster medicine, infectious disease and trauma surgery.
Meanwhile, the 2nd Qatar Pubic Health sessions will be discussing insights into Qatar’s Public Health capabilities in its preparations and measures to host a successful FIFA World Cup 2022 in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they added.
A key differentiator of these sessions is their primary focus on the public health perspective, which will take on topics that tackle the future of public health. This will include health protection and communicable diseases, health promotion and non-communicable diseases, food safety and environmental health, along with other priority public health areas.
The tracks will have a mix of direct lectures, panel discussions and debates and interaction with the participants will be strongly encouraged.
Experts from the national, regional and international health sector, including international organisations like the World Health Organisation, sports organisations, educational institutions, among others, will be sharing their best practices. A total of 29 local and 25 international speakers will be joining this year’s conference.
