Doha: School students across Qatar are set to take part in a football tournament and art competition to support selected Education Above All (EAA) Foundation projects aiming to help the world’s most vulnerable and marginalized children.
More than 1,000 students from 36 schools across the country will take part in EAA Foundation’s ‘Goals4Good’ tournament on March 10.
The first-of-its-kind event will be part of EAA Foundation’s 2023 Ramadan Campaign, said Director of Partnerships, Parintaj Sulaiman said during a press conference held yesterday at the EAA Foundation office in Education City.
Sulaiman was joined by Digital Funding and Partnerships Manager at EAA Foundation, Mousab Kerwat.
“It’s a very special event because children all over Qatar are coming together to support a higher goal and to support other children’s educational needs. All funds raised for the tournament are from the sponsorship of private corporate companies and 100% of those funds are being sent to education projects in different countries,” said Sulaiman.
“The entire purpose of this event is students supporting the education of students in need. During the ‘Goals4Good’ tournament students will participate in a football competition in three age categories for boys and girls and an art competition in two age categories. Our main partners, who support EAA Foundation throughout the year, are participating in the tournament by sponsoring the teams,” she said.
The event will be inclusive and students with different abilities will also participate in a showcase match. Also, an art exhibition of the short-listed entries will be held during the ‘Goals4Good’ tournament.
Qatar Airways, Carrefour Qatar, Qatar Shell, Marriott Worldwide, and Business Councils Qatar will be the main official sponsors of the event.
According to Sulaiman, ‘Goals 4 Good’ emphasizes Sustainable Development Goals on better health, quality education, and partnerships; and the funds from the ‘Goals 4 Good’ tournament will support EAA’s projects across the world with a specific focus on supporting children in Myanmar, Zanzibar, Somalia, Sudan, Mali, Cambodia Together Project, Assalam Schools in Qatar, ROTA Program Project Youth Volunteers for Training and Development and Al Fakhoora Access to higher education in Gaza, Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon. Also, the ‘Goals 4 Good’ Ramadan Campaign 2023 will continue to support the mentioned projects.
These projects assist marginalized and impoverished children with opportunities and hope for a better future, which intends to provide and increase access to educational facilities and resources and improve the quality of education.
The ‘Goals4Good’ tournament will take place at Doha College, on March 10 from 2 pm and open to the public for free. The event is expected to create a carnival atmosphere with games, music, and stalls. Around 100 volunteers will assist the visitors.
