New vehicle registration rises 5.8% in September

Doha: As much as 7,388 new vehicles were registered in September 2021, showing a monthly increase of 5.8% and an annual increase of 19.3%. 

This came in 93th ‘Qatar Monthly Statistics’ bulletin, a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA). 

Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 610 traffic cases were recorded during September 2021, showing a monthly increase of 8.7% and an annual increase by 32.9%. 

Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 91%, followed by severe injuries by 7%. However, 11 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents cases.

Market General Index (Point) during September 2021 increased by monthly rate of 3.5%, compared to August 2021, with annual increase rate of 15.0%, compared to September 2020. In this bulletin, PSA highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during September 2021 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census. 

One of the most prominent changes in this issue is the rise in the total number and value of sold properties; a monthly increase of 39.2% and 71.3%, respectively (compared to August 2021). 

In addition, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased, where the general family consumption index rose by 0.03%, (compared to August 2021). The largest increase was in clothes and shoes, followed by food and beverages by 2.80% and 1.78%, respectively, compared to August 2021.

Furthermore, among the most notable changes is the increase in the total number of marriage contracts for Qatari males and females by 30.5% and 37.0, respectively (compared to August 2021). 

However, the total divorce certificates for Qatari males and females went down by a rate of 15.2% and 11.0% (compared to August 2021). 

The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.72 million during September 2020 to 2.64 million at end of September 2021. Regarding to vital statistics, 2026 live births have been registered during September 2021.  Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 4.4% compared to last month. On the other hand, 168 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 24.0% compared to August 2021. 

Moreover, September 2021 has experienced a monthly increase by 7.1% in marriage contracts while the total number of divorce certificates decreased monthly by 12.3%. The total number of marriage contracts was 363 contracts, whereas the total number of divorces has reached 213 divorce cases. 

As for the Social Security statements, reached QR81m in September 2021, for 14,512 beneficiaries, recording a monthly increase of 1.4% for the value of social security and a monthly decrease of 0.7% for the number of beneficiaries of social security. Total electricity consumption during September 2021 was 5094.4 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 9.7% and an annual increase of 2.1%.
