The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in a formal circular to schools yesterday, announced the plan for Qatarisation of academic and administrative jobs in Independent Schools for boys and girls in Primary, Preparatory and secondary schools from the next academic year.

According to a report in Al Sharq newspaper, the ministry sent a list of approximately 650 teachers and administrators, whose service will be terminated, to each school and the last day for them will be Thursday, June 1.

The sources, according to the news report, added that there is a ready list of Qatari and expatriate staff  for recruitment in new schools and also to fill vacant positions in the existing schools for the new academic year.

The report in the Arabic newspaper added that many school directors were surprised when they received the list, which was sent to them through the employee data system by the Human Resources Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The ministry confirmed in the official statement issued yesterday to the school directors that it is necessary to hand over a copy of the end of service letter to the concerned employee and to start the procedure of paying the end of service benefits within a week of the decision and they need to fill out clearance form.

Sources from the Ministry told Al Sharq that the list includes teachers, administrators, secretaries, computer teachers and coordinators. Reporting about the list, Al Sharq said that some of the employees have 15 years of experience in the field of education.

The total number of employees, who lost their job, will be around 650 employees, while some schools lost up to 14 teachers and staff, others lost between 8 to 10 teachers and staff.
