Gaza: The Israeli occupation authorities on Thursday released 110 Palestinian prisoners as part of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Hamas and the Israeli entity.
Qatar News Agency (QNA) correspondent quoted official Palestinian sources as saying that buses carrying the Palestinian prisoners who were agreed to be released to the West Bank left Israeli Ofer prison towards Ramallah, while other buses transported the Palestinian prisoners to be deported abroad, with the prisoners of the Gaza Strip being handed over to the International Red Cross at the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in the southern Gaza Strip.
Nine prisoners arrived in the Gaza Strip and were received by a medical team from the International Committee of the Red Cross and a crowd of locals. They were transferred to the European Hospital east of Khan Yunis upon their arrival for an initial medical examination.
The Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Affairs Authority, the Palestinian Prisoners Club, and the Prisoners' Media Office said that the list of released prisoners in the second batch of the exchange deal in the first phase includes 110 prisoners, including 32 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, 48 prisoners with high sentences, and 30 child prisoners.
The release of the Palestinian prisoners was preceded by the Hamas movement handing over 3 Israeli detainees, including a female soldier, to the International Committee of the Red Cross this afternoon, as part of the prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and the Israeli entity following the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Israeli entity entered into force on January 19, and accordingly ends the bloody war waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
