Expand your learning on arts and crafts by applying in one of the Community and Continuing Education Program of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts) . The courses will take place between January and July 2022.
The Community Learning Spring 2022 will be from January 16 to March 30. It is open to everyone who has a passion for art and design and is keen to explore a specific art or design topic.
An offering for children and high school students – Children’s Program: Sound and Illustrated Characters, in Motion! (Ages 11 - 14) from March 13 to 17. And High School Program (Summer): Art and Design 2022, from June 26 to July 21.
The Children’s Program will harness students’ imagination through illustration, sound, and stop motion animation. Four themes guide students as they explore 2D and 3D character-building processes while simultaneously heightening their deep listening skills and composing their own “sound art.”
Also, visual and auditory work is brought to life via stop motion animation. Each participant’s individual and authentic style is encouraged and supported via one-to-one and group discussion.
Meanwhile, the High School Program is an intensive three-week program with an optional week of portfolio classes. It is structured to allow students to design their educational journey by introducing the different majors being offered and choosing one discipline in depth.
The Continuing Education in the meantime offers three courses: Foundation in Art Therapy from May 8 to 19, Introduction to Islamic Art – Journey through Geometric patterns of the Islamic Lands (May 23 to June 15), and Art Therapy – Level 6: Creative therapeutic practice for children and young people (July 23 to May 27, 2023). All classes will be online. VCUarts also announced that it would be holding free outreach courses: Future Museums Leaders and Going Public: A public art educational journey.
Future Museums Leaders is an online three free courses by museum professionals to develop museum skills in Education and Outreach, Audience Development, and Curating. While, the Going Public: A public art educational journey is a program designed to allow the community members to access the knowledge needed to develop their public art proposals.
