The opening ceremony was attended by various ambassadors and officials led by Cultural Village Foundation, Katara General Manager Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti.

Booths at the five-day festival display different maritime equipment along the Katara Beach stretch, including fishing nets, moreover, visitors will have the opportunity to witness artisans crafting dhow nets, enjoy musical performances, and preview the history of dhows at participating countries’ kiosks. A variety of souvenirs and handicrafts, such as baskets, figurines, and local food products, are also available for purchase.

Prof. Dr. Al Sulaiti stressed the festival’s significance in reviving Qatar’s maritime heritage and culture. He stated: “This year, we ensured that the festival programme was more open to international participation, with Portugal participating for the first time. The inclusion of various countries contributes to presenting exhibits and performances that captivate the public, offering insights into the heritage of these diverse cultures.”
