The holy month of Ramadan has bought relief to motorists as Ministry of Energy and Industry has decided to cut the price for Super grade petrol and diesel. The price of premium grade petrol will remain the same as that of May.
According to the new price list issued by the ministry super will now cost QR1.65 from June, which is 5 dirhams less than May price, while premium remains the same as May price at QR1.60 and diesel will cost QR1.55 in June, which is 5 dirhams less than May price
In May and April, the ministry had not increased the price of super and premium grade petrol.
Diesel price had gone up by 5 dirhams in April from the March price of QR1.55, as per the list published by the ministry.
The ministry posted the prices on its website in line with the decision to review fuel prices every month, based on international prices.
The ministry announced in April 2016, that it will start pegging the fuel prices to the international market.
When the first list was announced in June 2016 the premium petrol was QR1.20 per litre and super was QR1.30 per litre. In June diesel was QR1.40 per litre.
In a year’s time, from June 2016 to June 2017, the price of super has gone up by 35 dirhams and premium grade petrol has increased by 40 dirhams and diesel by 15 dirhams.
