Doha: Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation will represent Qatar at the FEI World Endurance Championship for Young Riders and Juniors in Tarbes-Ibos, France that begins today.
The qualification for the young Qatari athletes came after they each successfully completed five qualifications-CEI 120 km races this season.
Ninety-one of the most promising riders are competing in the championship, with the aim to bring home the world title. Last year the Uruguayan delegation won both the individual and team competition.
The opening ceremony of the World Endurance Championship was held yesterday. The Qatar delegation was led by the Chef d’Equipe, and Qatar’s flag bearer Mohammed Tahous Al Naimi.
Al Shaqab, home of the Qatar endurance national team is represented at the World Endurance Junior Championship by Sheikh Abdulla Mishal Hamad Al Thani with the stallion ‘Quoka’ in de L’Auronce’, Khulood Mohammed Al Khori with the mare ‘Quesbel du Vergnet’, Abdul Hadi Hamad Al Marri with ‘Oscar du Guide’, Nasser Jumah Al Mohannadi with ‘Halte a Tout’ and Ali Mohammed Al Hammadi with the mare, ‘Odyssee de Cruz’.
Fahad Al Qahtani, Al Shaqab Director said: “I hope for our young riders, a successful participation in the endurance race today and I wish for them to achieve a good performance. Where it is important to care about the first place, the benefit and experience gained by crossing the finishing line of a world championship is a great and valuable achievement by itself.
