Doha, Qatar: The American School of Doha (ASD) has announced the opening of its new Lower Elementary School (LES) playground, a dynamic space designed to foster creativity, physical activity, and social interaction among its young learners.
Generously supported by Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem), the playground embodies ASD’s ongoing commitment to student well-being and community engagement.
Envisioned as more than just a space for play, the LES playground offers an environment where students can grow, learn, and explore in a fun and educational way.
With an extensive range of play equipment, the playground caters to the developmental needs of children while encouraging imaginative play and physical exercise. Thanks to CPChem’s support, ASD has been able to bring this vision to life, creating a space that blends learning and recreation seamlessly.
One of the standout features of the playground is the Dhow-inspired playground structure. This unique design is a tribute to Qatar’s rich maritime heritage and serves as a reminder of the country’s historical connection to the sea.
The Dhow is not only a key cultural symbol but also an inspiring element of imaginative play, offering students the opportunity to engage in creative exploration while learning about Qatar’s traditions.
The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on December 11, 2024, marked the official unveiling of the LES playground.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including US Ambassador Timmy Davis, CPChem CEO Steve Prusak, and members of the Chevron Phillips Chemical team.
ASD extends its deepest gratitude to CPChem for its generous donation, which made this project possible, as well as to Al Rayyan Contractors for their dedication in bringing the playground to life. Additionally, ASD recognizes the Lower Elementary School Playground Committee for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of this initiative.
ASD is thrilled to open this incredible space for our students as the LES playground is more than just a recreational area; it’s an extension of our school’s commitment to fostering a positive, engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and connect with their community.
The new LES playground will remain a cornerstone of the ASD experience, inspiring young learners for years to come.
