Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani confirmed that His Highness’s discussions today with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, covered various potential areas of cooperation between the two countries, and the importance of exploring opportunities for cooperation, particularly in commercial and economic fields.
This came during a joint press statement made by His Highness the Amir and His Excellency President Dr. Masoud Bezhkishan following their discussions at the Presidential Palace today, where they addressed the difficult circumstances in the region and issues of mutual interest on both regional and international fronts.
His Highness the Amir clarified that the talks focused on the Palestinian issue, the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the commitment of the parties to implementing the phases of the agreement, and the importance of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the brothers in Gaza.
His Highness the Amir emphasized Qatar's commitment, along with its mediation partners, to ensuring the success of the agreement, which represents a key step toward a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian aid, putting an end to the suffering of civilians, paving the way for reconstruction, and working toward a fair and comprehensive settlement.
His Highness highlighted that the Palestinian people, who have made sacrifices over the past decades, will accept nothing less.
With regards to the Syrian issue, they discussed the importance of successfully advancing the comprehensive political process in Syria.
His Excellency the Iranian President began his remarks by highlighting the strength of the shared relations between the two countries and officials, praising the bonds of neighborliness, historical friendship, and constructive communication.
