The Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) announced Saturday will be first day of Ramadan, according to an official tweet.

The committee had said it could not sight the crescent moon for the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday evening and it has decided to meet on Friday.

Meanwhile, HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani exchanged today congratulations on the month of Ramadan, during phone calls held with a number of their majesties, excellencies, and highnesses leaders of Arab and Islamic countries.
HH the Emir exchanged congratulations with HH the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, HM King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, HM King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco, HE President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, HE President of the Republic of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh.
HH the Emir also exchanged congratulations on Ramadan with HE President of Islamic Republic of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, HH Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and HH Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
