NEW YORK: Alexander Steen and Kevin Shattenkirk scored in the shootout to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.
TJ Oshie forced overtime for the Blues (35-11-5) by scoring with 26.7 seconds left in regulation.
The Islanders (21-25-8) looked like they had won in overtime when Thomas Vanek tipped in a shot by John Tavares but the goal was overturned after a replay because Vanek appeared to kick the puck into the goal.
Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice for the Blues. Goaltender Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves.
Zdeno Chara and Jarome Iginla each scored twice to lead the Boston Bruins to a 6-1 victory over the slumping Philadelphia Flyers.
Reilly Smith and Patrice Bergeron also had goals, David Krejci had three assists and goaltender Tuukka Rask registered a career-best 23rd win.
Claude Giroux scored Philadelphia’s only goal.
The Bruins (32-15-3) are 3-0-1 in their last four games and remain first in the Atlantic Division.
The Flyers (25-22-6) are 0-3-1 in their last four and have fallen to eighth in the Eastern Conference.
Carolina’s Eric Staal and Manny Malhotra scored 32 seconds apart during a four-goal second period as the Hurricanes continued their home domination of Ottawa with a 6-3 victory over the Senators.
