Faleh Bughanaim yesterday guided Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred Algrain to a fabulous Ain Khaled Cup victory by a length at the 15th Al Uqda Meeting.

The five-year-old, trained by Eric Lemartinel, emerged from the pack in late stage of the 2200m run to win the feature race.

Hakida, steered by Carlos Henrique, and David Allan-helmed Goldamer finished second and third respectively.

Abdulaziz Jassim Al Boenain, Al Uqda Complex Dept Manager, presented the Ain Khaled Cup to the winners.

Meanwhile, Al Bida Racing’s Cool Exhibit claimed the Thoroughbred Handicap title after a one length win. The Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki-trained six-year-old was ridden by JP Guillambert.

The Thoroughbred Handicap (Class 5) witnessed thrilling competition, with Al Jasra Stud’s Hallo Sixties, guided by Ivan Rossi, landing the title with a neck win.

However, Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s Rosasa registered a commanding 3½-length win at the Local Thoroughbred Handicap. The Mohamed Khaled Elahmed-schooled mare was ridden by Szczepan Mazur.

Also yesterday, Tembel De Pine, with Marco Casamento in the saddle secured Purebred Arabian Novice Plate win, while Mazur claimed his first win of the day by riding Mukaabed to Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate title.
