The Executive Director of Tomoh for Community Development, Mohamed Shaheen, has said that the organisation is cooperating with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to provide COVID-19 vaccines for displaced persons and migrants in 20 countries around the world.
The campaign launched by QRCS in April this year has attracted wide attention and advocacy from many local, regional and international organisations. It aims to provide COVID-19 vaccines for 3.65 million refugees, displaced people, and migrants in different countries.
Speaking to Qatar Radio, Shaheen said that the campaign aims to collect donations to purchase a COVID-19 vaccine for those in need in poor countries, including refugees, the elderly, and others.
“We participate in this campaign as a community partner, especially that this is an international campaign led by the Qatar Red Crescent Society in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO),” said Shaheen.
“We are honoured to participate in this campaign as a community partner, as we will participate in several projects implemented in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent,” he added.
Recently, Eng. Nasser Abdul-Aziz Al Mogaiseeb, Director-General of Tomoh for Community Development, while commenting on the importance of QRCS’ Vaccine Equity campaign, said: “Signing this memorandum of understanding (MoU) with QRCS matches our goals of enhancing awareness in the fields of community development and social empowerment.”
“We join hands with QRCS to promote the campaign by designing and producing diverse innovative and interactive community programs that raise public awareness about COVID-19 vaccination and serving the government’s endeavour of reaching out to as many people as possible,” he added. The campaign comes amidst a critical humanitarian situation, where COVID-19 remains a considerable threat to many lives.
The #IAmVaccinatedIDonated initiative is under a large-scale campaign to mobilise support at the government, institutional, and individual levels. It involves a public advocacy campaign for COVID-19 vaccine equity with the support of everyone, as no one is safe until everyone is safe.
