Al Sadd ready for Raja Club Athletic friendly

Doha, Qatar: QNB Stars League (QSL) heavyweights Al Sadd are set for their much-anticipated friendly match against Raja Club Athletic of Morocco to be played at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium today.

Al Sadd’s home ground is expected to attract a large number of spectators as the club management has announced free entry for fans in the match.

The game will kick off at 6:30pm with gates set to open at 4pm. Valuable prizes will also be up for grabs for the fans on sidelines of the match.    

It will be a special occasion for team’s enthusiasts as Al Sadd have also planned to present their latest recruits to their fans before the kick off.  

Al Sadd’s new signings include Brazilians Paulo Otavio and Giovani Henrique besides Iranian defender Amin Hazbavi and Colombia’s Mateus Uribe. 

Yesterday, Al Sadd technical supervisor Ali Farag chaired a coordination committee meeting to review arrangements for the match.

Several points were discussed during the meeting including the entry gates for fans, the organisers and the media, and the match tickets which will be delivered to the fans in front of the stadium free of charge. 

Today’s match will help Portuguese coach Bruno Pinheiro assess his players before the upcoming King Salman Club Cup to be hosted by Saudi Arabia.

Raja Club Athletic, a popular club in Morocco, is based in Casablanca and compete in top flight Botola.  

After today’s match, Al Sadd will continue their training at their home turf before departing for Saudi Arabia to take part in King Salman Club Cup. 

They will take on hosts Al Hilal, Morocco’s Wydad AC and Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya in their Group B matches. As many as 16 teams will be seen in action in group stage of the tournament from July 27 to August 12. 

Al Sadd had recently returned from their overseas training camp in Seefeld, Austria where the side also played three friendly matches.
