Doha: The Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres arrived on Saturday in Doha to attend the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which takes place on Sunday at Al Bayt Stadium.
Upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport, the UN Sec-Gen and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations H E Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, the Director of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Ibrahim bin Youssef Fakhro, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative for the Gulf States and Yemen and Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Doha, Salah El Din Zaki Khaled.
