Doha: In a major milestone, the largest in its philanthropic history, Carrefour Qatar announced yesterday that it has reached QR10m of donations for the benefit of Education Above All (EAA) Foundation’s Together program.
This significant announcement follows three years of active cooperation between Carrefour Qatar and its largest social responsibility partner, the EAA Foundation.
Also, it demonstrates Carrefour Qatar’s commitment towards the society, its individuals and families.
Commenting on this news, Laurent Hausknecht, Carrefour’s Regional Director said: “We are honoured to partner with Education Above All for the third consecutive year, and we are happy to reach this new horizon. Our partnership with the EAA is backed by our strong belief in the importance of education to future generations, and by our genuine commitment towards the society.”
“This milestone has a special meaning for us at Carrefour Qatar, because we believe that education is a great cause, and having greater availability and accessibility to quality education is a life changer for children, it truly makes a direct positive impact in their future. Also, we really admire the work being done year after year by the Education Above All Foundation, and its ability to make a tangible difference in children’s lives,” Hausknecht added.
On the ten million Qatari riyals threshold, Education Above All’s Director of Partnerships, Parintaj Ankleshvria, stated: “Every riyal raised by Carrefour will go towards putting a child in school. This milestone shows that only by working together can we ensure that when it comes to education, no child is left behind. We are very grateful to have a partner like Carrefour, and we look forward to continuing to work together for years to come.” To make this philanthropic work possible, Carrefour Qatar deploys innovative mechanisms to donate, and encourage others to donate as well towards this worthy endeavour. It facilitates donations’ collection through more than 50 check-out stations at its 10 hyper and super stores throughout Doha, 365 days of the year.
The most recent of such innovative programs was ‘Matching Donations’ during the first week of Ramadan each year. Through which, Carrefour Qatar matches donations made by its customers during the calendar’s most important and busiest month, Ramadan.
