The Shura Council participated yesterday in the meetings of the committees of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, within the work of the 32nd Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is held in Cairo.
The Shura Council participated in a meeting of the political affairs and parliamentary relations committee, where the Council was represented by HE Abdulrahman bin Yousef Al Khulaifi, a member of the Council.
The meeting discussed the items of the committee’s report related to political and parliamentary decisions and approved the report, which is scheduled to be presented at the conference.
Also, the Shura Council took part in the meeting of the women and childhood affairs committee of the Union, represented by H E Sheikha bint Youssef Al Jufairi, a member of the Council. The meeting reviewed the committee’s report, which dealt with several axes, including political empowerment, strengthening women’s political participation, economic empowerment, participation in sustainable development, volunteer work, social, health, educational empowerment, and the provision of means to protect them.
Moreover, the Shura Council partook in the meeting of the Union’s financial and economic affairs committee, represented by H E Omair bin Abdullah Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, a member of the Council. The meeting discussed several issues related to the economic situation in the Arab world and ways to enhance economic integration among Arab countries, including activating the Arab common market.
The meetings of the Union committees also witnessed the election of the heads and rapporteurs of the committees. Also, they discussed the final account for 2021 and the development of strategic plans for their work.
