The Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced that it will screen the movie “C’mon C’mon” on the big screen with VOX Cinemas partnership.
On its social media post, it said: “This month we are excited to kick off our VOX cinemas Qatar partnership with a screening of “C’mon C’mon” movie directed by Mike Mills. The film follows Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) and his young nephew (official Woody Norman) forge a tenuous but transformational relationship when they are unexpectedly thrown together in this delicate and deeply moving story about the connections between adults and children, the past and the future.”
DFI also disclosed that tickets are available online via VOX’s website. “Bring your friends for fun times,” it concluded.
The movie will be screened from February 24 to 26 at VOX Cinemas at Doha Festival City in Umm Salal Mohammed. It will have one timelot for showtime which is at 8pm. The main language of the movie is in English and an Arabic subtitle will be in place.
Earlier, the Institute disclosed that it will screen every month “the unmissable original film that has garnered considerable acclaim and industry awards.” Released in 2021, the movie was written and directed by Mike Mills, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Gaby Hoffman and Woody Norman. The black-and-white-drama film has received several acclaims from critics, praising the cinematography, direction and performance. The runtime of “C’mon C’mon” is one hour and 48 minutes.
It had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last year and was screened at film festivals in Chicago, the Hamptons, Mill Valley, New York, Rome, and San Diego, to name a few. Moreover, it also had a limited released in US theatres on November last year.
Rotten Tomatoes, an American review-aggregation website for film and television gave the film an approval rating of 94 percent. Its critic consensus said: “The sweet chemistry between Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman is complemented by writer-director Mike Mills’ empathetic work, helping C’mon C’mon transcend its familiar trappings.”
