Doha, Qatar: Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater stressed that Qatar has developed its educational system based on the wise vision of the country’s prudent leadership.

This development includes adopting a comprehensive strategy that provides an integrated educational infrastructure, with schools, institutes, and universities comparable to top global institutions.

The strategy also focuses on preparing qualified educational and administrative cadres, implementing the latest educational curricula, ensuring equal opportunities, promoting comprehensive education, and advancing scientific research and innovation.

In her speech at the ceremony honouring the 18th batch of the Education Excellence Day Award, she explained that this batch witnessed the widest participation in terms of the number of applicants and the diversity of institutions, since the launch of the competition in 2006.

She revealed that the number of winners of the award reached 80 winners, out of 277 local applicants, noting that Qatar has paid great attention to education, and made it a fundamental focus in its national vision.

Al Khater emphasised that discovering, refining, and nurturing talents is the key to unlocking the latent abilities of every citizen, enabling them to actively contribute to achieving sustainable development for their nation, enhancing its well-being, and elevating it to the ranks of the most advanced countries.

She also highlighted that these efforts, along with the significant investment in the education sector, have led to rapid progress within a short period, positively impacting the country’s economy and enabling its advancement to global leadership positions.

The Education Minister pointed out the award honours academic achievements of outstanding students, teachers and academics, to consolidate the culture of excellence and creativity, and to motivate future generations to achieve educational excellence, reflecting Qatar’s firm commitment to building a knowledge-based society. She explained that Qatar recognises education as an ongoing process with no set time limits, especially in light of rapid technological advancements, the changing demands of the labour market, and increasing global competition at all levels. From this perspective, the importance of keeping pace with the latest educational systems and continuously developing national programs becomes clear, ensuring preparedness for the requirements of the 21st century.

At the end of her speech, the Minister extended her sincere thanks to H H the Amir for his generous patronage of the award since its inception, and expressed her appreciation for the efforts of this year’s distinguished graduates, acknowledging their relentless dedication and commitment to achieving success.  Mohammed bin Thamer Al Thani, winner of the excellent university student category, gave a speech on behalf of the total 80 winners of the Award’s 18th edition. He expressed pride in H H the Amir’s recognition and extended his deepest thanks, appreciation and gratitude to His Highness for patronising the ceremony.
