AlBahie’s 12th edition of its much-anticipated carpets auction entitled ‘Persian & Tribal carpets: Low Reserve Auction’ will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 7pm at AlBahie’s main auction hall at Katara Cultural Village, Building 22c.

Comprising over 100 lots, the auction is an exciting opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors of tribal and classic Persian carpets to bid on these outstanding pieces from low reserves, something that rarely happens in the carpet auction market.

Carpets in the auction include both antique and newly produced pieces from mid-19th century to present from Iran, Central Asia and Turkey. The carpets that have come from important private collections from around the world have been expertly handpicked by the auction advisor, Khalil El Khansa, a renowned figure in the carpet industry in the region who also specializes in antique carpets.

A preview exhibition will take place before the auction and the impressive selection of these rare carpets will be on display also at the main hall at AlBahie Auction House.

The auction brings together carpets that are great examples of certain periods and the golden eras of carpet weaving in various cities across Iran, Central Asia and Turkey which is evident quite distinctly in the collection. Everything from stylised figures, tribal symbols, vibrant naturally dyed colors in various sizes and shapes are included in the auction.

AlBahie is pleased to offer these outstanding examples of great carpets, something they expect will spark a strong response from the local and international collectors and undoubtedly make it an incredible and an unmissable opportunity for both seasoned and young collectors of carpets from the region and internationally.

AlBahie invites all guests to attend the pre-auction exhibition which is free and open to the public, currently on view at AlBahie Auction House in Katara.
