Second International Traffic Safety Conference to be held in March 2022

Doha: The Second International Traffic Safety Conference (ITSC 2022) will be held in Qatar on March 21- 22, 2022. The Conference is an international forum that supports the vision and objectives of the National Traffic Safety Strategy 2013-2022 in the State of Qatar.

It was announced at a press conference held today at Qatar University.
Dr Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham, President of Qatar University, Brigadier Muhammad Abdullah Al Maliki, Secretary of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Dr Muhammad Yusuf Al Qaradawi, Director of the Qatar Transport and Traffic Safety Centre (TTSC) at Qatar University attended the press conference.

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the National Traffic Safety Committee and Qatar University, represented by the Qatar Transport and Traffic Safety Centre, with the participation of many relevant authorities.
 "We are pleased to announce the Second International Traffic Safety Conference under the theme 'Towards a Safe and Sustainable Transportation and Traffic System", said Dr Al Derham, President of Qatar University and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Conference.

He added that the organization of the conference coincides with the launch of the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety announced by the United Nations on October 28, 2021, which calls for attention to vulnerable groups such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, and aims to reduce at least 50% of traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.

"The importance of the ITSC 2022 lies in exchanging experiences with different countries in a way that enhances the implementation of the sustainable development plan 2030", said Brig. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Maliki, Secretary of the National Traffic Safety Committee and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference.

Brig. Mohammed Abdullah Al Shahwani, Director General of Traffic and a member of the conference's steering committee stressed that road safety is one of the main pillars of the development of the State of Qatar.

Dr Muhammad Yousef Al-Qaradawi, Director of Qatar Transport and Traffic Safety Centre at Qatar University, explained that the conference is one of the most important global events. He added that many research papers and specialized studies in road safety would be published at ITSC 2022.
